Submissions now accepted for teens’ videos that discourage distracted driving
WASHINGTON– Today, CTIA Wireless Foundation™ launched the third annual “Drive Smart: No Distractions, No Excuses” teen digital short contest. The contest challenges students ages 13-18 to develop compelling digital shorts that discourage their peers and adults from distracted driving.
The teen who creates the most persuasive and creative digital short will win a $10,000 scholarship, and the grand prize winner’s teacher/mentor will receive a $1,000 award. Two runners-ups will each win a $5,000 scholarship and three semifinalists will each win a $1,000 scholarship. Teacher/mentors of runner ups and semifinalists will each receive $500 and $250, respectively.
“By engaging with teens on this important issue, we’re focused on reminding everyone that when they are on the road, driving safely must be their first priority,” said Athena Polydorou, Executive Director of CTIA Wireless Foundation. “Every year, teens submit some of the most creative, engaging and thoughtful digital shorts to combat distracted driving. We look forward to seeing this year’s submissions.”
Teens can submit digital shorts from October 17 to December 19, 2016 at DriveSmartNow.com, and winners will be announced in April 2017, which is distracted driving awareness month.
