WASHINGTON, DC – The Wireless Foundation announced today that Kimberly Bassett will join the organization on September 30th as its Executive Director. In this role, she will be responsible for the Foundation’s charitable programs which rely on wireless technology to help make America’s communities safer.
“With over 17 years of experience in community relations, governmental affairs and non-profit management, Kimberly will bring her strong relationships in both the private and public sectors to the Foundation and the industry,” said Steve Largent, President of The Wireless Foundation and President and CEO of CTIA-The Wireless Association®. “Kimberly is a valuable addition to The Wireless Foundation team and we look forward to working with her.”
Ms. Bassett joined The Wireless Foundation after having served as Director of External Affairs for Verizon Washington, DC, where she was responsible for community engagement, government relations, employee advocacy and management of the Verizon Foundation. Prior to her time at Verizon, Ms. Bassett was the Director of Programs for DC Vote. She also worked as the Director of Programs and Partnerships for The Stephen Case Foundation, and served as a presidential appointee in the Clinton Administration.
Ms. Bassett holds a Bachelor of Arts from North Carolina Central University and a Master of Arts from North Carolina A&T State University.
