Get Wise About Wireless

The Wireless Foundation has teamed with Weekly Reader Corporation Consumer & Custom Publishing to create a free educational program, GET WISE ABOUT WIRELESS: Be Safe, Be Courteous. The program was developed especially for middle school students, who are growing up as part of the wireless generation.

The program helps educate students about responsible behaviors in cell phone use. GET WISE ABOUT WIRELESS gives educators and families tools to encourage young people to practice proper cell phone etiquette and safety behaviors. It also seeks to serve as a catalyst for discussions at home about daily use of wireless technology.

Educational kits sent to schools contain an educator guide, family take-home pamphlet, classroom poster and a student mini-magazine. The Weekly Reader Corporation reported that Get Wise About Wireless reached nearly 5 million teachers, students and parents—significantly exceeding expectations. Program materials received "excellent" or "above average" ratings of over 90% from teachers.
