The Wireless Foundation in Action

Here are just a few ways we’ve made a difference:

We brought wireless carriers together to provide text4baby to more than 150,000 pregnant women and new mothers. This free mobile service provides information to help mothers care for their health and give their babies the best possible start.

We created a free educational program, GET WISE ABOUT WIRELESS: Be Safe, Be Courteous, to educate middle school students growing up as part of the wireless generation. We’ve reached over 6 million teachers, students and parents—greatly exceeding expectations.

Working with industry partners and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, we delivered AMBER Alerts to wireless phones. You can sign up to receive free Wireless AMBER Alerts.

Teaming with The American Red Cross for Text 2HELP, we enabled citizens to make donations for relief efforts via text message. This was the nation’s first successful charitable mobile fundraising program.

Our Green Wireless programs have enabled people to retire their phones and devices in an environmentally-sound manner with. For example, Call to Protect resulted in millions of dollars donated to organizations committed to helping survivors of domestic violence. This was one of the first green wireless programs in the country.

We facilitated donation of wireless phones and airtime to neighborhood watch groups nationwide with our Citizens on Phone Patrol (COPP®) program. Through the COPP program, the wireless industry provided over 14,000 wireless phones to more than 12,000 neighborhood watch patrols across the country
